Information for parents

CSQ is an independent, not-for-profit, industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices, trainees, and career seekers in the building and construction industry.

CSQ has partnered with the Queensland Government to deliver the Gateway to Industry Schools Program (Gateways) to deliver a Construction Pathways program.

The Construction Pathways program aims to build partnerships between schools and industry to enable young people to learn more about careers in construction.

To achieve this, CSQ offers a range of experiential learning opportunities to students including:

  • construction chats (industry talks)
  • construction site tours
  • virtual reality and Try'a Trade events.

Parent and student consent

If the student is under the age of 16, a parent or legal guardian must give their consent for the student to provide information into the CSQ Construction Pathways media consent and diversity questionnaire.

Students aged 16 and older are able to give consent and may sign the media consent and complete the diversity questionnaire but are encouraged to obtain the consent of a parent or guardian.

For more information on what this consent covers, please see the summary below.

What is copyright material?

These materials may form part of the student's academic assessment or be part of his/her studies generally and may attract copyright. CSQ understands that the student owns the intellectual property rights for his/her material and that this consent form is not meant to transfer his/her ownership - simply that CSQ has the permission to use the student's materials for the purposes mentioned.

What is an image or recording?

An image or recording referred to in this consent form includes photographs, emails, videos, films, or sound recordings of the student.

What happens to this consent form once it is signed?

How long will this consent be in effect?

The consent will be effective until the student or parent/guardian, if the student is under 18 years of age, revokes the consent.

What if the student or the parent/guardian, if the student is under 18 years of age, wishes to withdraw the consent?

Consent can be modified or withdrawn at any time by writing to CSQ. However, any changes will apply only from the date of the receipt by CSQ of any consent withdrawal. Any existing material will not be withdrawn from use if CSQ is currently using the material or where CSQ has entered into contractual obligations in relation to this material. In such cases the withdrawal will be effective after CSQ  has entered into contractual obligations in relation to this material. In such cases the withdrawal will be effective after CSQ's use is complete or after the contractual obligations come to an end.

What if the student or the parent/guardian does not want to give consent?
